FRANCESCO MIGLIAVACCA
Founder & Scientific Advisor
Prof. Francesco Migliavacca is Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano (Italy). He has 30-years experience in modelling medical devices. He has been pioneering patient-specific modelling in congenital and adult cardiac diseases. One of the first researcher coupling different scales to study hemodynamics in great vessels and modelling the first finite element models of coronary stents and percutaneous pulmonary valves. He has been research affiliate at MIT and research fellow at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, UK. For Politecnico di Milano he has been coordinator of research programs funded by European Union, Fondation Leducq and Italian Ministry of University. Consultant for high-tech companies.
PAUL CHIPPERTON
Founder & CEO
A 30-year veteran of founding, raising capital and running life science start-ups, Paul formerly co-founded and led award-winning Prostate Cancer MedDev company Profound Medical Inc. (NASDAQ:PROF), and recently led Insight Medbotics Inc. through its most recent financing and FDA clearance. He is currently a board member of Fero International, and serves as a community rep on an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment board. He has served as a Chair or member of multiple other boards, including Angel Investors Ontario (AIO) and Northeastern University (USA) Program Advisory Committee. Part-time, he lectures MBA/MEEI/MHSc level courses at University of Toronto, Queen's, McMaster, Politecnico di Milano, and WU-Vienna on the topics of strategic innovation, venture capital finance and marketing, and has served an elected term as a Senator on Queen's University Senate.
SANTI TRIMARCHI
CAB Chair
Prof. Santi Trimarchi, MD, PhD is Full Professor of Vascular Surgery at Università degli Studi di Milano, and he is Head of the Vascular Surgery Unit at Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico in Milan (Italy). Through 30-years of career, his clinical-surgical and research activity focuses on the study and treatment of aortic diseases, including primarily aneurysms and dissections, but also of many other vascular diseases such as carotid stenosis, arteriopathies of the lower limbs and superficial and deep venous pathologies. To date he has performed more than 4000 operations. Extensive trans-atlantic experience has materialised through additional research and scholarly activities at Utrecht University, Holland; and Yale University, University of Michigan, University of Florida-Gainesville, and Harvard Medical School, USA. In the last 7 years he has been included as member in the writing committee of Aortic Diseases Guidelines by ESVS, SICVE, and the European Association Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) in conjunction with the Society for Thoracic Surgeons (STS).
